At the heart of any culture is street food. The aromas as you pass by leave your mouth watering and leave you craving that delicious food. The interesting thing about these cultures is that you get to watch your food being prepared for you. Soon your mouth will be exploding with flavors of hot, sweet, sour, or salty. It’s amazing the variety. Here are seven tasty Asian fast food places that are worth checking out:

Common Chinese Street Foods

In China, you can’t go wrong with street food. It’s worth sampling and your taste buds won’t be disappointed. Northern China is known for the delicious Chuanr lamb kebabs seasoned with cumin, red pepper flakes, and other various spices giving it that intoxicating aroma. Pancakes, otherwise known as Bing are another popular item in China. You can get them stuffed with meat or have them plain. Another recommended dish is the Jian Bing. This is the Chinese’s version of a crepe.

If you’re craving something sweet, perhaps you would be interested in trying candied fruit or China Tang hu lu. This is skewered fruit coated in sugar syrup. Both of these can be found almost anywhere in China. If you’re a fan of Chinese noodles there are many noodle houses selling pan fried noodles or noodle soup.

Restaurants in Indonesia can’t beat street food which is usually sold on bikes or carts. These are known as pedagang kaki or makanan. You can choose from rice dishes and satay dishes along with soups, cakes and hot or cold drinks.

Japan is all about noodles. They have udon, soba and ramen noodles. If you want to be adventurous, you can try delicacies like Takoyaki better known as octopus dumplings, Castella- a sweet sponge cake, or other cakes like taiyaki and imagawayaki. Hard to say, but sweet and tasty.

Fast food vendors line the streets of South Korea with delicacies like fried squid, shrimp, and chicken skewers. A famous South Korean dish is beondaigi or boiled chrysalis which is still found in some places. Korean toasted breakfast sandwiches are a favorite in Seoul and other large cities along with tasty sweet snacks like hotteok and bungeoppang.

Fish is a favourite among fast food dishes in the Philippines, from fried squid balls, calamari’s, and fish balls. Chicken on a stick is also popular. Found along roadside stands is barbecued pork and chicken along with chicken heads, intestines and feet, pig’s ears.

If you are brave enough to try this dish, then I say go for it, it is the fried stinky tofu. Many people eat the oyster pancakes, fried meatballs, sugarcane juice, fish ball soup, and snacks made with rice or noodles.

Noodles are found in most of the popular Thailand fast food dishes. These include; Pad Thai and Rad Naa. These are flat noodles with beef, pork or chicken and veggies. You can also try a soup called Tom Yum Kung or fried rice called Khao Pad.

As you can see, America isn’t the only place to find fast food. No matter where you go you’re sure to find something unique to satisfy your taste buds.
